Today’s Scripture: Luke 19:10
Jesus summarized His mission with one powerful statement: “The Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”
Everything Jesus did flowed from His love for people. He healed the sick. He welcomed outcasts. He forgave sinners. He pursued those whom others ignored. People mattered to Jesus. They still do.
It is easy to become focused on our schedules, responsibilities, and personal concerns. Yet throughout Scripture, God’s attention continually turns toward people.
- Every person you encounter has a story
- Every person carries struggles, hopes, questions, and fears
- Every person has eternal value
Sometimes we unintentionally view people as interruptions to our plans. Jesus viewed people as His mission.
The cashier. The neighbor. The coworker. The family member. The friend. The person sitting beside you at a game or restaurant. Every person is someone God loves deeply.
When we begin seeing people the way Jesus sees them, our perspective changes. Compassion grows. Opportunities become visible. Conversations take on greater significance.
The gospel begins with God’s love for people. And as followers of Jesus, we are called to share that same love with others.
PERSONAL REFLECTION
Ask God to help you see people through His eyes today. Look for one opportunity to intentionally show kindness and compassion.
PRAYER
Father, You came to seek and to save the lost, and everything You did flowed from Your love for people. Forgive me for treating people as interruptions instead of seeing them as Your mission. Help me remember that every person carries eternal value and is deeply loved by You. Give me Your eyes today, and one opportunity to show kindness and compassion.
