Everything Belongs to God

Everything Belongs to God

Today’s Scripture: Psalm 24:1

One of the most transformative truths in the Christian life is also one of the simplest: Everything belongs to God.

The psalmist writes, “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it ...”

Not some things. Not spiritual things. Everything.

This truth challenges the way most of us naturally think. We tend to view our possessions, our finances, our abilities, our time, and even our relationships as things we own. Scripture presents a different perspective. Everything we have is a gift entrusted to us by God.

King David understood this. Despite his wealth, influence, and success, he declared that all greatness, power, honor, and provision came from the Lord. David recognized that he was not the owner. He was a steward.

When we embrace this truth, our perspective begins to change. We become more grateful because we recognize that every blessing comes from God. We become less anxious because the responsibility of ownership is no longer ours. We become more generous because we understand we are simply managing resources that ultimately belong to Him.

The question is not, “What belongs to me?”

The better question is, “How does God want me to use what already belongs to Him?”

Everything in your life is an opportunity to honor God and advance His Kingdom.

PERSONAL REFLECTION

Make a list of five blessings God has entrusted to you. Thank Him for each one and ask how He wants you to use them for His purposes.

PRAYER

Father, the earth is Yours and everything in it, including all that I call mine. Forgive me for living as an owner when I am only a steward. Help me hold my possessions, time, abilities, and relationships with open gratitude. Show me how You want me to use what already belongs to You to honor Your name and advance Your Kingdom.
