Today’s Scripture: John 15:4
Every healthy relationship thrives on connection.
Friendships require conversation. Marriages require intentional time together. Families grow stronger through shared experiences. Relationships drift when connection disappears.
Jesus uses this same principle to describe our relationship with Him.
“Remain in me, and I will remain in you.”
The word remain means to stay connected, to continue, to abide.
Jesus is reminding His followers that spiritual growth is not something we manufacture through effort alone. It flows from relationship.
A branch does not struggle to produce fruit. It simply remains connected to the vine. Life flows through the connection.
Many Christians become frustrated because they focus primarily on producing results. They try harder to be patient, loving, joyful, or faithful. Yet Jesus teaches that fruit is the natural result of remaining connected to Him.
The goal of discipleship is not simply doing more for Jesus. The goal is spending more time with Jesus. When we consistently engage with Scripture, pray, worship, and seek His presence, our connection deepens. Over time, His character becomes increasingly visible in our lives.
Spiritual growth is not accidental. It is relational. The invitation today is not to strive harder but to stay connected.
PERSONAL REFLECTION
What distractions most often pull you away from Jesus? Identify one practical way to strengthen your connection with Him this week.
PRAYER
Jesus, You are the Vine and I am the branch. Forgive me for striving to produce fruit on my own effort. Teach me to remain in You, to stay connected through Scripture, prayer, and worship, so that Your life flows through me and Your character becomes visible in mine.
