Today’s Scripture: Mark 10:42-45
Everyone wants a life that matters. The question is how we define greatness.
The disciples often argued about who would be the greatest. Like many people today, they viewed greatness through the lens of power, influence, and recognition.
Jesus completely redefined it. He taught that true greatness is found in serving.
“Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant.”
The world says greatness is climbing higher. Jesus says greatness is serving lower. The world says greatness is being noticed. Jesus says greatness is helping others flourish. The greatest example is Jesus Himself. The King of kings chose the role of a servant. He washed feet, welcomed the overlooked, and gave His life for others.
Real leadership is not about status. It is about influence. It is about using what God has entrusted to you to help others grow, succeed, and experience His love.
Every follower of Jesus has opportunities to lead.
- At home
- At work
- In friendships
- In the church
The question is not whether you have influence. The question is how you are using it. The path to greatness in God’s Kingdom will always run through humility and service.
PERSONAL REFLECTION
Look for one opportunity today to serve someone without expecting recognition or anything in return.
PRAYER
Lord, You redefined greatness by becoming a servant. You washed feet, welcomed the overlooked, and gave Your life for others. Free me from chasing status and recognition. Help me use whatever influence You have entrusted to me to serve others and point them to You.
