Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross. Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Who is this King? That question has echoed through human history because King Jesus is not what the world has seen in other rulers. Kings are entitled to and expect the highest honor and privileges. They keep themselves separate from ordinary people. But our King is different. Our King is the One who left His privileges, position, and power to draw near to His people.
This King is the One who deserved the highest throne yet chose a manger. This King is the One who deserves every throne, yet He willingly humbled Himself and became a servant. This astonishing King is the One who emptied Himself and took the form of a servant.
This King left His throne to kneel and wash dusty feet. This King is the One before whom every knee will eventually bow in worship, recognizing His Kingship and rule. He is the forever King. His Kingdom will never end.
But this King allows us to choose whether we will serve and follow Him. Jesus is this King. His humility doesn't diminish His Kingship; it reveals the kind of King He is.

Prepare a table for His enemies
