I am excited! Community Impact Day is this Sunday!
Why is this day so important and exciting? Because ultimately everyone who professes to believe in and follow Jesus is called to serve. Joyful, willing service is one of the characteristics of an authentic follower of Christ.
We want all of the communities where we have a campus to be very aware that we are FOR them. Too often what the world around us knows as the Church is known and distinguished by what it is against instead of what it is FOR. It is our deep desire and prayer to be part of changing that.
Wooster – FOR Wayne County
Canton – FOR Stark County
Millersburg – FOR Holmes County
Coshocton – FOR Coshocton County
Cambridge – FOR Guernsey County
Dover – FOR Tuscarawas County
Our example is Jesus: “For I came not to be served but to serve.” Matthew 20:28
Our Mission at New Pointe is to inspire people to follow Jesus by engaging them in the life and mission of New Pointe Community Church.
You have heard me say that I am not really excited about church people. Jesus wasn’t excited about church people either. He came to free people from people, religious or church people, who basically go through religious traditions and rituals. He came that you and I might have life and have it to the fullest. This basically means a spiritual life from a rebirth by the Spirit of God – being born again – which means quality of life. His desire is for everyone who follows Him to experience an abundant, adventurous life right here and now.
When we have this abundant life, it will no doubt cause people to ask questions which if leveraged can lead to great spiritual conversations. People will say, “I can’t believe you would do this on a Sunday? What about going to church? This is a great opportunity to explain that attending a weekend service is important and needs to be a priority, yet it is even more important to be the church, not just go to church.
Another question we often hear is, “What about the offering?” This is another great opportunity to explain that we have people who believe in and invest in the mission of NewPointe and the church, so they give to support the mission whether they are out serving, on vacation, or sick. Giving is a part of our lifestyle as much as serving.
If you've already signed up for Community Impact Day, your T-shirt is ready for pickup! Stop by the table near the Info Desk this weekend to grab yours. If you haven't signed up yet, it's not too late! Again, this is a great opportunity for Dad and Mom to include the whole family and connect them to a bigger and better story than what is being offered by their friends and the world around them. Check out the specific projects on our website or get more information at the Info Desk on Sunday. This is your chance to make a real difference in our community!
Then, after you serve, be sure to hang around for the after party at each of our campuses. There will be plenty of food and fun. This is a super way to connect with people that you have not yet met.
Don’t miss this great weekend! Your community needs you, and you need to serve!
