“The marriage I am experiencing is not meeting my expectations.” This is a truthful admission for way too many people. If it is not true of your marriage, you know family members, friends, or co-workers who would admit this describes the state of their marriage.
Psychologists who have studied human life over varied time periods and in different circumstances have found a common thread. If your life is completely out of order but your marriage relationship is healthy and strong, you can handle virtually anything. Yet if your life is going well, your finances are strong, and your career is going well, yet your marriage is not healthy, nothing will satisfy you. You will operate from a position of emotional despair and inner turmoil.
This week we are kicking off a series called “The Pursuit: It’s easier to fall in love than stay in love.” It’s our best attempt to help you and your friends succeed in marriage.
This is a great invite opportunity. You can say “Hey, I want to invite you to come and sit with me this Sunday to help build your marriage and home. It will be practical and helpful for your home and mine.” One of the of the greatest gifts you can give a friend or family member is to help strengthen their marriage
Marriages have a profound effect on families – your parents’ marriage has had a profound impact on your life. In fact, whether it is positive or negative, whether your parents are living or dead, it is still impacting you.
If you have married children, I promise you will want them there. Their marriages will have a profound impact on your grandchildren, either setting them up for great relationships or setting them back, with a relational deficit.
Our community is no stronger than our families and our families are no stronger than our marriages. This series will help you whether or not you are married, however. It is filled with principles and attitudes that will allow you to grow in developing relationships that are healthy and strong.
However, most people are in a marriage, coming out of one, or looking and thinking about marriage. Everyone you know could benefit. Invite and make sure to be here yourself.
